BLU Products unveils Tegra 3 running Quattro 4 5 4 5 HD and 5 7 HDBLU Products unveils Tegra 3 running Quattro 4 5 4 5 HD and 5 7 HD

It was just weeks ago that BLU Products smartphones were largely dual-core models like the Vivo 4.65 HD. The company clearly wants to ramp things up, as its kicking off the Quattro line based around Android 4.0 and the quad-core, 1.5GHz Tegra 3. At the entry level is the $250 Quattro 4.5, which includes a qHD display at its namesake size as well as a 5-megapixel camera, 4GB of built-in storage and a microSD slot. The next step is, unusually, the biggest: the $300 Quattro 5.7 HD (what you see above) keeps the same storage, but jumps to the extra-large category while upgrading to a 720p display and an 8-megapixel camera. BLU sees the $350 Quattro 4.5 HD as the real darling. It beats its non-HD cousin with a curved, 720p screen touting Gorilla Glass, and throws in a larger 16GB capacity as well as a more light-sensitive 8-megapixel camera. The two smaller models ship to the US early this month, to be followed by the 5.7-inch behemoth in late March. When they arrive, every one of them will carry unlocked HSPA+ 3G that supports both AT&T and T-Mobile.

Samsung unveils curved OLED TV screen

While there were plenty of TV’s shown off at CES this year, 4K being the most popular, Samsung had something a bit different up its sleeves in the form of a curved OLED display.
Said to be perfect for panoramas and nature scenes, the product Samsung was showing was still an early prototype. Don’t get your hopes up of having this in your living room any time soon.
No specs for the display were given, though it was a 55-inch screen model on display.
The Korean tech giants did not just show of its use of curved OLED screens in TV, but is also hopeful of bringing it to smartphones as well.
Again purely a prototype, the phone has a screen which falls down the edges, allowing for bits of information, such as emails and messages, to be displayed. We’re not quite sure how this will be helpful, but it’s still very cool nonetheless.
As with the TV, the phone is still at the beginning of development, but who knows; one day down the line we could see this in Samsungs Galaxy range of phones. For the time being, if you’re itching to know what Samsung has in store for the Galaxy IV, check out our rumour packed guide.

Samsung unveils the Series 7 Ultra refreshes the Series 7 Chronos with a slimmer design

Weve gotta hand it to Samsung: announcing new products before CES is a clever way of grabbing our undivided attention. With days to go before the show officially kicks off, the outfits already unveiled some new monitors, and put out teasers for at least three other items. Now the companys PC division is getting a headstart as well: Samsung just added two notebooks to its high-performance Series 7 family of products. These include the Series 7 Ultra, a 13-inch Ultrabook, as well as a refreshed Series 7 Chronos with AMD graphics.
Starting with the Ultra (pictured above), this is the first Ultrabook in the Series 7 family, which emphasizes hearty performance more than other PCs in Samsungs lineup. Itll be available in two versions, one with a touchscreen and one without, but even then, youll find variants with different processors (Core i5 or i7) and different storage capacities (128GB or 256GB). Whichever configuration you choose, though, youll get a 350-nit, 1080p display, up to 16GB of RAM (!), a backlit keyboard, JBL speakers and a 1GB AMD HD8570M GPU. Other specs include three USB ports (two 2.0, one 3.0), HDMI, Ethernet, mini-VGA, a memory card reader and a battery rated for up to eight hours (were assuming thats the non-touch model).
As for the new Series 7 Chronos, Samsung actually just teased it in a video earlier today. Based on that, we already knew the 15-inch version would be refreshed with AMDs new AMD Radeon HD 8870M GPU, whose RAMaccelerator technology claims to increase browsing and general application speeds by up to 150 percent. At the same time, Samsungs also given the chassis a makeover so that its now thinner than the last-gen model (0.82 inches thick versus 0.94). Other than that, it packs a 2.4GHz Intel Core i7 3635QM CPU, a 300-nit, 1080p display, up to 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, an optional touchscreen, a backlit keyboard, JBL speakers and 11 hours of battery life (in theory, anyway).
In any case, Samsung hasnt announced pricing or availability for either of these models, but you can bet your Nexus 10 well be getting hands-on at CES next week. Until then, weve slipped a photo of the Chronos after the break. You know, because we can play the teaser game too.
